Last week, according to Analysys International Enfodesk Industry Database "China's online retail market trend forecast 2009-2012", China's online ecommerce market has reached 252.6 billion RMB in 2009, which translates to about $36B in US Dollars. This reflects an impressive growth curve that more than doubled of 120B RMB online ecommerce market in 2008. China ecommerce market is still relatively small compared to $156B online ecommerce in the US based on Forrester Research number. But if you look at the growth trend, US online shopping growth is slowing down from 13% growth in 2008 to 11% growth in 2009. In comparison, China's Online ecommerce market has been more doubled every year for the last few years. This reflects an accelerated convergence to online shopping and presents a significant large market for domestic and international vendors. Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou are the top 3 cities for online shopping. Male online shoppers outnumber women, accounting for 55 percent. Electronic products are the main consumption choice among male shoppers.
