Lenovo recently announced an Android based Smartphone called LePhone. LePhone has a screen size of 3.7 inches, a thickness of 12 mm, using Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The phone will first be released in China, price unknown at this moment. Lenovo is trying to catch up its mobile leadership in China. In November 2009, Lenovo announced a $200M U.S. dollars acquisition of Lenovo Mobile. Lenovo Mobile was divested from Lenovo in 2008. As the boundary between smartphone and PC blurs over time,  it becomes important for Lenovo to have various hardware offerings to satisfy consumer needs.

Smartphone market is heating up in China with the latest iPhone entry.  Dell has also recently launched its own Android smart phones starting in China. Acer has added a set of Google phones to its offerings in China.
