Lower cost of 3G adoption in China


Cost of 3G data in China has always been one of major problems for its wide adoption. Beijing Telecom today announced a new 3G phone package to meet customers growing demand for mobile Internet access and voice calling needs.

  • The low end package costs about 59 RMB/month that includes 500MB of data traffic with free domestic call receiving, and 0.20 RMB / minute for domestic calling;
  • The middle end package costs about 99 RMB/month with 1GB of data traffic with free domestic call receiving, and 0.15 RMB / minute for domestic calling;
  • The high end package costs about 139 RMB/month with 2GB of data traffic with free domestic call receiving, and 0.10 RMB / minute for domestic calling;

If an user uses more data traffic than allowed in the pacjage, the charge would be 0.005 RMB / 10KB of data.
